Information on ports of call

TAHITI

Tahiti (Papeete) is the starting and finishing point of the cruise.  The largest and most populated of the French Polynesian islands, Tahiti is home to the capital, Papeete.  Apart from its bustling town with its colourful market and luxury resorts, the island of Tahiti offers stunning scenery with spectacular mountains, lush vegetation and beautiful waterfalls.  The Gauguin Museum and Botanical Gardens are also worth a visit.

TAHAA/MOTU MAHARA

Your fantasy of a South Seas paradise probably includes a white sandy beach with swaying palms, a gentle breeze and crystal clear waters.

Motu (island) Mahanais is a beautiful and natural setting where you could enjoy a delicious barbeque and be entertained by strolling Polynesian musicians and singers.  Spend the day on your own private island, board an outrigger canoe for a snorkelling tour and black pearl farm visit.

RAIATEA

Raiatea was the cultural, religious, royal and political heart of Polynesia, and according to legend it was the birthplace of the gods.  Take a four-wheel drive safari into the lush interior, stop at the sacred Marae Taputapuatea and then sail in an outrigger up the only navigable river in French Polynesia.  Then enjoy dives for novice and certified divers alike in this underwater paradise.

BORA BORA

The island is surrounded by a spectacular lagoon, travel off road and experience magnificent views of the island, or glide over crystalline waters that includes a shark and ray feeding adventure or simply spend a few hours on a beautiful private sandy beach, reserved exclusively for guests of the Paul Gauguin.

MOOREA

Moorea's jagged peaks, cloaked by lush green and encircled by blue, are everyone's dream of Polynesia.  Join a dolphin watching expedition with, spinner dolphins, rough tooth dolphins and pilot whales which are resident around Moorea, go parasailing or even take a thrilling helicopter ride over the peaks, deep lush valleys and beautiful reefs and lagoons.

A visit to the ship's Fare Tahiti Gallery, featuring Polynesian art and artifacts, will introduce you to the islands' colorful heritage. The pool invites you to an early morning dip while you can enjoy a full range of complimentary watersports at the state-of-the-art retractable watersports platform.

In the evening, spirits are very much alive as guests enjoy Polynesian performances, dancing, cabaret singers, a casino and the warm camaraderie of fellow guests sharing the Paul Gauguin's highly personal, undiluted experience of French Polynesia.
